47 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
5-Section 1. (a) No form of ranked-choice voting method shall be
6-used in determining the election or nomination of any candidate to any
7-federal, state, county or other municipal elected office.
8-(b) As used in this section, the term "ranked-choice voting" means
9-a form of voting that allows voters to rank two or more candidates for
10-an elected office in order of preference and tabulates the cast ballots in

11+(b) As used in this section, the term "ranked-choice voting" means a

1114 multiple rounds with the elimination of the lowest vote-receiving
1215 candidate after each round until a candidate receives a majority of the
1316 votes cast.
14-(c) Any ordinance, resolution or regulation prohibited by
15-subsection (a) that was adopted prior to July 1, 2025, shall be null and
16-void.

1719 Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
18-publication in the Kansas register.
