A RESOLUTION commending the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners 1
Association on the 70th anniversary of its founding. 2
WHEREAS, the 1792 Kentucky Constitution established the office of Justice of the 3
Peace, public servants commonly known as county magistrates and county commissioners 4
who proudly serve on their respective county fiscal court; and 5
WHEREAS, county fiscal courts within Kentucky provide important day-to-day 6
services for the residents of our Commonwealth's 120 counties. Decisions made by 7
county fiscal courts require dedicated and informed participation by justices of the peace, 8
county magistrates, and county commissioners. These elected county officials are 9
expected to provide the expertise necessary to make county governments operate 10
efficiently and effectively; and 11
WHEREAS, in 1952, a group of dedicated elected public servants from across 12
Kentucky joined together for the purpose of establishing a unified legislative voice in the 13
Commonwealth's Capitol, representing the county fiscal courts while creating an 14
organization to network and promote the exchange of ideas and services that offer a better 15
quality of life for all Kentuckians; and 16
WHEREAS, in 1952, the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners Association 17
was formalized. For over 70 years, the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners 18
Association has proudly served as the unified voice for all of Kentucky, magistrates and 19
commissioners. It also serves as a conduit for growth, knowledge, and professionalism for 20
its members, by providing quality solutions, education, and programming, while 21
advocating for legislation aimed at bettering Kentucky's counties; 22

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 24
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 25
Section 1. The House of Representatives commends and honors the Kentucky 26

dedicated service to the elected magistrates and commissioners of Kentucky's 120 1
counties. 2
Section 2. The members of the House of Representatives duly congratulate the 3
entire past and present membership of the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners 4
Association on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the association. 5
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 6
copy of this Resolution to the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners Association, 350 7
