UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS BR 2324 Page 1 of 2 XXXX Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Elizabeth 1 Campbell Moir. 2 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Campbell Moir was known for many things, most of which 3 included being a dedicated wife and mother to her two daughters, and her passion for 4 making the lives of those around her better; and 5 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Moir was a 2007 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy where 6 she was an All-State Basketball player, and a 2011 graduate of the University of 7 Kentucky; and 8 WHEREAS, after her devastating diagnosis with ALK-positive lung cancer, 9 Elizabeth channeled her passion into a positive force, becoming a fierce advocate for the 10 awareness and research of lung cancer; and 11 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Moir, a young, non-smoker, was surprised by a diagnosis of 12 lung cancer during her seventh month of pregnancy, but she never faltered in her efforts 13 to bring awareness to the rise of lung cancer diagnoses among women ages 30 to 49; and 14 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Moir would often tell others "All you need to have lung 15 cancer is lungs," and she stressed the importance of early detection being critical to long-16 term disease management; and 17 WHEREAS, Elizabeth's efforts were recognized in the week following her death 18 when more than 125,000 dollars was donated to lung cancer research in her name, a 19 tribute to her and her tireless advocacy; and 20 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Moir departed this earthly life on August 27, 2021, leaving 21 her friends, family, and all those whose lives she touched in solemn mourning; and 22 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Moir is survived by her husband, Michael Moir; daughters, 23 Campbell and Eleanor Moir; parents, Jim and Karen Campbell; grandmother, Betty 24 McGuire; sisters, Catherine (Patrick) Meyers and Annamarie (Sam) Carden; brother, 25 Woody; parents-in-law, Rick and Donna Moir; sisters-in-law, Megan (Eric) Flores, 26 Mackenzie, and Meredith; beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a multitude of 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS BR 2324 Page 2 of 2 XXXX Jacketed friends; 1 NOW, THEREFORE, 2 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 3 Kentucky: 4 Section 1. The members of the Senate, individually and collectively, hereby 5 express their most profound sympathy upon the passing of Elizabeth Campbell Moir and 6 extend heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and community in this time of loss. 7 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 8 memory of Elizabeth Campbell Moir. 9 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 10 Resolution to Senator Julie Raque Adams for delivery to the family. 11
