UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS BR 1648 Page 1 of 2 XXXX Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Michael 1 Abell. 2 WHEREAS, Michael Abell was born on November 26, 1946, in Bardstown, 3 Kentucky; and 4 WHEREAS, Michael Abell graduated from St. Augustine Grade School and High 5 School in Lebanon, Kentucky, before graduating from Bellarmine University in 1968; and 6 WHEREAS, Michael Abell dedicated his life to serving others in his home state 7 and abroad, as he served as the Bellarmine Student Government President, as a Peace 8 Corps volunteer in Peru, as the Regional Crime Council Director for Lincoln Trail 9 Community Development, as a grant administrator for the City of Bardstown, as Nelson 10 County Judge/Executive, as the Kentucky State Director of Purchasing, as the Chief 11 Financial Officer for the City of Bardstown, and as a contributor to numerous community 12 development organizations; and 13 WHEREAS, Michael Abell was proud of his titles and accolades, but he was most 14 proud of his service as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, in-law, 'out-law,' 15 neighbor, advocate, problem solver, hiking buddy, and friend; and 16 WHEREAS, Michael Abell was devoted to restoring and maintaining his historic 17 home in Bardstown, as well as any other home into which he was invited; and 18 WHEREAS, Michael Abell had an insatiable curiosity, as he explored the world 19 and its many cultures, traveling throughout every chapter of his life. Extensive 20 international travel and long backpacking trips became passions after his second 21 retirement; and 22 WHEREAS, Michael Abell was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed works of 23 nonfiction; and 24 WHEREAS, Michael Abell was loved dearly by his wife Sheila, two children, six 25 siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and countless others; 26 NOW, THEREFORE, 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 22 RS BR 1648 Page 2 of 2 XXXX Jacketed Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1 Kentucky: 2 Section 1. The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 3 passing of Michael Abell and expresses heartfelt condolences to his family in this time of 4 loss. 5 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 6 memory of Michael Abell. 7 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this 8 Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery to the family. 9
