AN ACT relating to maternal mental health. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
ď˘SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 211 IS CREATED TO 3
READ AS FOLLOWS: 4
(1) All hospitals or alternative birthing centers offering obstetric services or licensed 5
health care providers, including licensed certified professional midwives or nurse 6
midwives, providing birthing services outside of a hospital or birthing center 7
shall, prior to releasing each maternity patient, make available to the patient and 8
relevant family members: 9
(a) Information about the signs and incidence of postpartum depression and 10
perinatal depression; and 11
(b) Information on the website of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services 12
on how to locate behavioral health care providers who treat or provide 13
support for maternal depression. 14
(2) The cabinet shall post on its website information on how to locate behavioral 15
health care providers who treat or provide support for maternal depression. 16
