AN ACT relating to Daylight Saving Time. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
ď˘SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 2 IS CREATED TO 3
READ AS FOLLOWS: 4
(1) As used in this section: 5
(a) "Central Daylight Time" means the time five (5) hours behind Coordinated 6
Universal Time and is known as Daylight Saving Time in the Central Time 7
Zone; 8
(b) "Coordinated Universal Time" means the time scale maintained through 9
the General Conference of Weights and Measures and interpreted or 10
modified for the United States by the Secretary of Commerce in 11
coordination with the Secretary of the Navy; 12
(c) "Daylight Saving Time" means time as adjusted to achieve longer evening 13
daylight by setting the clocks one (1) hour ahead of standard time; and 14
(d) "Eastern Daylight Time" means the time four (4) hours behind 15
Coordinated Universal Time and is known as Daylight Saving Time in the 16
Eastern Time Zone. 17
(2) If the United States Congress amends the Standard Time Act of 1918 or the 18
Uniform Time Act of 1966, 15 U.S.C. sec. 260 et seq., to allow states to observe 19
Daylight Saving Time year-round, the official year-round time of the 20
Commonwealth of Kentucky and its political subdivisions shall be: 21
(a) Central Daylight Time in the part of this state that is in the Central Time 22
Zone; and 23
(b) Eastern Daylight Time in the part of this state that is in the Eastern Time 24
Zone. 25
