A JOINT RESOLUTION directing the Transportation Cabinet to include Marvin 1 
Rose on the Country Music Highway in Lawrence County. 2 
WHEREAS, Marvin Ray Rose was born on November 6, 1937, in Louisa, 3 
Kentucky to the late John and Salley Rose; and  4 
WHEREAS, Marvin Rose grew up in Louisa, Kentucky, and was a graduate of 5 
Louisa High School; and  6 
WHEREAS, Marvin Rose was a distinguished bluegrass musician, traveling with 7 
his band Marvin Rose & Co.; and 8 
WHEREAS, Marvin Rose enjoyed a long career, performing bluegrass and country 9 
music for over 34 years; and 10 
WHEREAS, during his extensive musical career, Marvin Rose made 21 recordings, 11 
including "Coming Home," a gospel album, and the album "34 Years of Bluegrass"; and 12 
WHEREAS, Marvin Rose passed away on February 6, 2011, in South Charleston, 13 
West Virginia; and 14 
WHEREAS, Marvin Rose's talent and career earned him the respect and 15 
recognition of his peers in the music industry, and his talent and accomplishments should 16 
be recognized by placing his name on the Country Music Highway signage in Lawrence 17 
County; 18 
NOW, THEREFORE, 19 
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 20 
Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall honor the accomplishments of 21 
Marvin Rose by including him on the Country Music Highway on United States Highway 22 
23 in Lawrence County, and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, 23 
erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 24
