UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 235 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 9/19/2022 12:00 PM Jacketed A JOINT RESOLUTION directing the Transportation Cabinet to designate a 1 portion Kentucky Route 1057 in Powell County as the Rondal Winslow Davis Memorial 2 Highway. 3 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis was born on October 16, 1949, in Mt. Sterling, 4 Kentucky, to the late Harry Roger Davis and Lillie Grace Ballard Davis; and 5 WHEREAS, a graduate of Powell County High School, Rondal Winslow Davis was 6 an astounding basketball player. He was selected for the Kentucky State All-State 7 Honorable Mention for his high school basketball career for Powell County from 1965 to 8 1967 and was inducted into the Powell County Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013; and 9 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis was a farmer for most of his life, and led the 10 Future Farmers of America program at Powell County High School; and 11 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis attended Never Ending Grace Community 12 Church at the time of his passing, and was raised as a strong man of faith in the 13 Hardwicks Creek United Methodist Church, where he attended with his parents as a 14 child; and 15 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis was honored as a Kentucky Colonel; and 16 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis was a certified school bus driver trainer for 46 17 years, and received a Lifetime Service Award from the Transportation Association of 18 Kentucky; and 19 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis coached the Powell County Middle School 20 girls' basketball team for three years, and led the team to their first winning season in 21 school history; and 22 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis was a coach for the Powell County Little 23 League system for the Clay City Indians, and led his teams to the championship eleven 24 times, and was inducted into the Powell County High School Baseball Hall of Fame in 25 2022; and 26 WHEREAS, Rondal Winslow Davis passed away on August 12, 2022, in Clay City, 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 235 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 9/19/2022 12:00 PM Jacketed Kentucky, and is survived by his wife, Dianna Davis; his three daughters, Ronna 1 Donithan, Leslie Wright, and Valeria Jones; and many family members, friends, and 2 colleagues; and 3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate that tangible recognition should be given for Rondal 4 Winslow Davis's life of service to Powell County and its children; 5 NOW, THEREFORE, 6 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 7 Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 1057, in 8 Powell County, from the intersection with Frames Branch Road, and ending at the 9 intersection with Daniel's Branch Road, as the "Rondal Winslow Davis Memorial 10 Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect 11 appropriate signs denoting this designation. 12
