UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1864 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 3/30/2023 12:13 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION recognizing the University of Louisville for its efforts to 1 accelerate adoption of cybersecurity systems in Kentucky by combining assets of higher 2 education, state and federal agencies, and private sector companies. 3 WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has put forth tremendous effort to build 4 relationships with federal and state agencies, law enforcement, the private sector, and 5 academic researchers to pave the way for collaboration in cybersecurity; and 6 WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has been a vehicle to bring federal 7 cybersecurity research, development, and education dollars to Kentucky, has been a 8 national leader in the NSA's cyber workforce training initiative, and has brought in 9 around $13 million in the last five years that has supported curriculum development and 10 scholarships to train veterans, military, and first responders; and 11 WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has developed a national cybersecurity 12 certificate program that includes online learning, hands-on applied learning labs at all 13 levels, and gamification components, along with online technology industry badging 14 from Microsoft, IBM, and Google; and 15 WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has provided industry-based credentialing 16 needed by Kentucky businesses and federal agencies and has trained hundreds of law 17 enforcement personnel, veterans and military, health care and logistics companies, and 18 defense contractors in the last two years; and 19 WHEREAS, the University of Louisville has partnered with corporations, including 20 logistics companies, health care providers, and others, as well as other colleges and 21 universities, to create a national cybersecurity training coalition that includes Kentucky 22 Community and Technical Colleges and higher education institutions across the United 23 States; 24 NOW, THEREFORE, 25 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 26 Commonwealth of Kentucky: 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1864 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 3/30/2023 12:13 PM Jacketed Section 1. The House of Representatives recognizes the University of 1 Louisville for its efforts to keep Kentucky's critical infrastructure safe and build a well-2 trained cybersecurity workforce through innovation and collaboration to meet the needs 3 of Kentucky today and in the future. 4 Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 5 copy of this Resolution to Representative Kevin Bratcher. 6
