A RESOLUTION celebrating the opening of the Trager Family Jewish Community 1
Center in Louisville, Kentucky. 2
WHEREAS, the Jewish Community Center is a well-respected and integral part of 3
the city of Louisville, Kentucky; and 4
WHEREAS, founded in 1878, the Young Hebrew Men's Association offered 5
education, sports, theater, and music; and 6
WHEREAS, in 1955, the Young Hebrew Men's Association opened a new location 7
on Dutchmans Lane which became a hub for Jewish life in the city, and it was aptly 8
renamed the Jewish Community Center; and 9
WHEREAS, the Jewish Community Center has offered a plethora of services not 10
only to those of the Jewish faith but also to the whole of the Louisville community; and 11
WHEREAS, in April 2022, a new 107,000 square-foot facility on Dutchmans Lane 12
was opened and named the Trager Family Jewish Community Center; and 13
WHEREAS, the $43 million project hosts a variety of fitness activities, including 14
an indoor and outdoor aquatics center, two basketball courts, group exercise and training 15
rooms, along with a cycle studio and elevated track; and 16
WHEREAS, additionally, the new Trager Family Jewish Community Center 17
provides a 12-room preschool, auditorium, senior center, and cafe; 18
NOW, THEREFORE, 19
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 20
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 21
Section 1. The House of Representatives commends the tremendous 22
commitment to service the Jewish Community Center has demonstrated throughout its 23
history and celebrates the opening of the Trager Family Jewish Community Center. 24
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in 25
celebration of the Trager Family Jewish Community Center and its continued role in 26

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 1
copy of this Resolution to Representative Jason Nemes for presentation to the Jewish 2
