A RESOLUTION recognizing July 10, 2023, to be Chronic Disease Day in 1 
Kentucky. 2 
WHEREAS, chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, 3 
cancer, diabetes, asthma, and obesity, account for many of the most common health 4 
problems in the United States and Kentucky; and 5 
WHEREAS, more than 160 million Americans live with chronic diseases and 6 
disabilities; and 7 
WHEREAS, one out of every two adults in Kentucky has at least one chronic 8 
disease; and 9 
WHEREAS, chronic diseases account for seven of the top ten leading causes of 10 
death in the United States; and 11 
WHEREAS, chronic diseases account for more than 90 percent of the annual 12 
healthcare spending in the United States; and 13 
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic exposed and exacerbated existing difficulties 14 
in how people with chronic conditions are impacted; and 15 
WHEREAS, the aims of Chronic Disease Day are to lower the number of 16 
preventable illness, advance access to care for unpreventable conditions, and build 17 
healthier communities; 18 
NOW, THEREFORE, 19 
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 20 
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 21 
Section 1.   The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky 22 
does hereby proclaim July 10, 2023, as Chronic Disease Day. 23 
Section 2.   The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 24 
copy of this Resolution to Representative Kimberly Poore Moser for delivery. 25
