A RESOLUTION recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. 1
WHEREAS, the mission of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky is to prevent the abuse 2
and neglect of Kentucky's children through advocacy, awareness, and training; and 3
WHEREAS, there are more than 270 Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky partners 4
throughout the Commonwealth, with at least one partner in each of Kentucky's 120 5
counties; and 6
WHEREAS, April has been declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by 7
presidential and gubernatorial proclamation; and 8
WHEREAS, Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky is launching the statewide Lean on Me 9
Kentucky initiative to encourage the citizens of the Commonwealth to be community 10
supporters; and 11
WHEREAS, it is important that we use our spheres of influence to ensure our 12
children and families are supported and our communities thrive; and 13
WHEREAS, there will be more than 3,000 pinwheels planted on the grounds of the 14
Kentucky State Capitol to honor our children and recognize April as Child Abuse 15
Prevention Month; 16
NOW, THEREFORE, 17
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 18
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 19
ď˘Section 1. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky 20
does hereby recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kentucky to promote 21
increased awareness and education of child abuse prevention in Kentucky. 22
