Ratliff. 2 WHEREAS, Herman W. Ratliff was born in Green County, Kentucky, on April 2, 3 1926, the beloved son of the late James William "Jimmy" Ratliff and Estell Dobson 4 Ratliff; and 5 WHEREAS, Herman W. Ratliff passed away on May 29, 2014, in Campbellsville, 6 Kentucky, at the age of 88, leaving behind his family, friends, and all those he served as a 7 lawmaker for the Commonwealth; and 8 WHEREAS, Herman W. Ratliff served Taylor, Green, Metcalfe, and Marion 9 Counties as a Kentucky State Representative for nineteen years from 1968 to 1986, 10 including three terms as Minority Caucus chair; and 11 WHEREAS, Herman W. Ratliff was a retired farmer specializing in Charolais 12 cattle, and businessman who was a partner with Supertone Studio for 41 years; and 13 WHEREAS, Herman W. Ratliff served in the United States Army during World 14 War II, primarily in the Philippines, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant; and 15 WHEREAS, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, the World War II 16 Victory Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, 18 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 19 ď˘Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall name the bridge located on the 20 Campbellsville Bypass, Kentucky Route 55, at mile marker 9 in Taylor County, the 21 "Representative Herman W. Ratliff Memorial Bridge," and shall, within 30 days of the 22 effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 23
