A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Senator C.B. Embry Jr. Memorial 1 
Highway in Butler County. 2 
WHEREAS, Senator C.B. Embry Jr., son of the late Carlos B. Sr. and Zora Romans 3 
Embry, was born July 29, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky; and 4 
WHEREAS, Senator C.B. Embry Jr. was a 1963 graduate of Western Kentucky 5 
University and completed course work at Duke University and Kentucky Wesleyan 6 
College; and 7 
WHEREAS, Senator C.B. Embry Jr. was the embodiment of a public servant and 8 
was elected to public office 12 times to 5 different offices. He was elected to the 9 
Kentucky House of Representatives in 2002, where he served the citizens of District 17 10 
until he was elected to represent the citizens of District 6 as a member of the state Senate 11 
in 2014; and 12 
WHEREAS, Senator C.B. Embry Jr. was active in his community, having been 13 
elected president or chairman of 18 different local, regional, or statewide organizations; 14 
and 15 
WHEREAS, Senator C.B. Embry Jr. was a retired teacher, newspaper editor, and 16 
businessman; and 17 
WHEREAS, Senator C.B. Embry Jr., a member of the First Baptist Church in 18 
Morgantown, was a person of deep faith who served as a Sunday school director and 19 
deacon; and 20 
WHEREAS, on Thursday, September 29, 2022, Senator C.B. Embry Jr. passed 21 
away after a long illness, leaving his family, friends, and community mourning his 22 
passing; and 23 
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the contributions of Senator C.B. Embry Jr. 24 
be memorialized in some tangible way; 25 
NOW, THEREFORE, 26 
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 1200

Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the portion of United 1 
States Route 231 in Butler County, from Kentucky Route 70 (mile point 11.513) to the 2 
Butler/Ohio County line (mile point 18.846), as the "Senator C.B. Embry Jr. Memorial 3 
Highway", and shall within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect 4 
appropriate signage denoting this designation. 5
