A RESOLUTION honoring Evangeline "Eva" Miller for her service to Clark 1 
County Public Schools and the community at-large. 2 
WHEREAS, Mary Evangeline "Eva" Miller has served the community of Clark 3 
County and has dedicated her life to providing children equal access to opportunities to 4 
succeed; and 5 
WHEREAS, Eva Miller has continued the legacy of her father, Clyde Tisdale, Jr., 6 
who was a leader in the Toledo, Ohio, community, and followed the calling "to lead 7 
someone in the right direction and make them aware of other opportunities to keep them 8 
on the right path"; and 9 
WHEREAS, Eva Miller serves on the board of directors for Clark County 10 
Community Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves as the primary source of 11 
aid to families in crisis in Clark County. The program encourages families toward self-12 
sufficiency while providing food, clothing, shelter, and utility assistance; and 13 
WHEREAS, Eva Miller has been a member of Clark County Children's Council, 14 
Inc., for over 20 years, where she has served as president, vice president, and a member 15 
of the board of directors during her tenure with the nonprofit agency. The agency 16 
provides academic and cultural enrichment services to children through afterschool 17 
programs and access to the reading intervention tutoring program at each school; and 18 
WHEREAS, Eva Miller has been an advocate for, and participant of, the YMCA of 19 
Central Kentucky Black Achievers program. The program serves all youth to help 20 
develop leadership potential, encourage educational and career goals through support in 21 
academics and mentorship from local businesses and industries, and offers support for 22 
parents learning how to prepare and assist youth for the future and cultivate success; and  23 
WHEREAS, Eva Miller works as a Family Resource and Youth Service Center 24 
coordinator serving the students and families at Willis H. Justice Elementary School in 25 
Winchester, Kentucky, where the majority of the student population are categorized as 26 
economically disadvantaged. She diligently pursues and embraces the implementation of 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 814

the Family Resource and Youth Service Center goals to enhance students' ability to 1 
succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote early learning 2 
and successful transition to school, academic achievement, overall well-being, and 3 
graduation and transition to adult life; and 4 
WHEREAS, Eva Miller serves as a bridge to create partnerships with community 5 
members and businesses to ensure children and their families have access to food, shelter, 6 
utilities, and the ability to experience the joy of presents and meals at holidays; and 7 
WHEREAS, as Eva Miller works with a steadfast resolve to help her community, 8 
she exhibits one of her greatest strengths, that she does her service quietly and without 9 
the need for recognition or promotion;  10 
NOW, THEREFORE, 11 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 12 
Kentucky: 13 
Section 1. The members of the Senate recognize the contributions of Mary 14 
Evangeline "Eva" Miller to the youth and families in Clark County Schools and the 15 
Winchester community. 16 
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 17 
Resolution to Senator Ralph Alvarado for delivery to Eva Miller. 18
