UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1487 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/28/2023 10:51 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION honoring Beechwood High School Football Coach Noel Rash 1 upon the occasion of his retirement from coaching. 2 WHEREAS, on February 13, 2023, Noel Rash, long-time Beechwood High School 3 football coach, announced his retirement from coaching after a stellar career; and 4 WHEREAS, in 17 years as Beechwood's head coach, Rash's teams have won 200 5 games, averaging almost 12 wins a year; and 6 WHEREAS, under Noel Rash's guidance, the Tigers have won an astounding eight 7 state championships, winning the Class A title in 2007 and 2008, three consecutive Class 8 A titles from 2016 to 2018, and three consecutive Class 2A crowns from 2020 to 2022; 9 and 10 WHEREAS, the news of Noel Rash's retirement has unleashed a torrent of heartfelt 11 congratulations from school administrators and former players for a coach who places a 12 premium on developing young men and using football as a vehicle to instill life lessons 13 that his players still implement well into adulthood; and 14 WHEREAS, Justin Kaiser, a 1998 Beechwood graduate and the current principal of 15 Beechwood High, said, "Coach Rash galvanized an entire community to rally around a 16 special group of young people every fall during football season. Beechwood football is 17 more than a program or individual, it is a culture of commitment, sacrifice, and 18 brotherhood that Coach Rash inherited and enhanced in his time here. Combine that with 19 an incredibly successful run as head coach, for mentoring our student-athletes the right 20 way, and for representing Beechwood in a first-class manner on and off the field — you 21 have a coach that ventures into legendary status. Coach has solidified that legendary 22 status over the past 20 years"; and 23 WHEREAS, Noel Rash's former players also were effusive in their praise and 24 respect for their retiring coach, with Luke Slusher, a 2022 graduate currently playing for 25 Western Kentucky University, saying, "Greatest coach to ever come in and play for. 26 Thank you for everything, coach. I would run through a brick wall for you...love 2 you, coach"; and 3 WHEREAS, although stepping down as a coach, Noel Rash will continue his work 4 with students as a social studies teacher at Beechwood; and 5 WHEREAS, perhaps it is Noel Rash himself who best explains what his time on the 6 sideline was like when he said, "There is nowhere quite like Beechwood. The Friday 7 nights are special, and so too is the community support of everything that goes on at 8 school, both academically and with extracurricular activities. I am so humbled to have 9 been part of such a special place. Beechwood is my home and without these players and 10 families, we don’t accomplish any of this"; and 11 WHEREAS, the stellar career of Noel Rash, teacher, coach, and leader is truly 12 deserving of public recognition; 13 NOW, THEREFORE, 14 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 15 Kentucky: 16 Section 1. The members of the Senate join Senator Chris McDaniel in 17 congratulating Beechwood High School Football Coach Noel Rash upon the occasion of 18 his retirement, celebrating his unbelievable 17 year run of excellence with the Tigers, and 19 wishing him good fortune in all future endeavors. 20 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate shall transmit a copy of this Resolution to 21 Senator Chris McDaniel for presentation to Noel Rash. 22
