A RESOLUTION recognizing March 1, 2023, as Kentucky Nurses Day in the 1
Commonwealth. 2
WHEREAS, nurses positively impact the health and well-being of Kentuckians 3
across the Commonwealth; and 4
WHEREAS, the nursing profession is recognized as the nation's most trusted 5
profession; and 6
WHEREAS, nurses have been licensed in Kentucky since 1914 and nearly 90,000 7
nurses are currently licensed in the Commonwealth, working in a variety of settings and 8
specialties; and 9
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Nurses Association, established in 1906, is the only full-10
service professional organization for the state's entire nurse population; and 11
WHEREAS, Kentucky's nurses have been continuously dedicated to providing care, 12
teaching nursing students, contributing to the scientific understanding of illness and 13
health, and promoting good health policy; 14
NOW, THEREFORE, 15
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 16
Kentucky: 17
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby proclaim Wednesday, March 1, 18
2023, as Kentucky Nurses Day in the Commonwealth. 19
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor, recognition, 20
and celebration of Kentucky's nurses and the service and high-quality care that they 21
provide to Kentuckians. 22
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 23
Resolution to Senator Lindsey Tichenor for delivery. 24
