A RESOLUTION honoring the Colonel Benjamin Logan Chapter of the Sons of the 1 
American Revolution located in Russellville, Kentucky. 2 
WHEREAS, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) 3 
was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky; and 4 
WHEREAS, SAR is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting 5 
patriotism, preserving American history, and promoting education to our future 6 
generations; and 7 
WHEREAS, SAR members volunteer untold hours of service each year in their 8 
local communities and are very active in assisting veterans. SAR proudly provides 9 
teachers with living history interpreters, lesson planning materials, and reenactment 10 
events for school-aged youth to attend; and 11 
WHEREAS, as one of the largest male societies in the country, SAR boasts tens of 12 
thousands of active members in over 550 chapters across the United States and 13 
internationally. Any male 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic 14 
background, who can prove blood lineal descent from a patriot of the American 15 
Revolution, is eligible for membership; and 16 
WHEREAS, SAR was conceived as a fraternal and civic society composed of lineal 17 
descendants of the patriots who wintered at Valley Forge, signed the Declaration of 18 
Independence, fought in the battles of the American Revolution, served in the Continental 19 
Congress, or otherwise supported the cause of American Independence; and 20 
WHEREAS, SAR seeks to maintain and extend the institutions of American 21 
freedom, patriotism, and respect for our national symbols, including but not limited to 22 
promoting pride in being American citizens; and 23 
WHEREAS, the National Society was chartered by an act of the United States 24 
Congress on June 9, 1906. The charter was signed by President Theodore Roosevelt, who 25 
was also a member of the Empire State Society of SAR; 26

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1 
Kentucky: 2 
Section 1.   The Senate does hereby honor the Colonel Benjamin Logan Chapter 3 
of the Sons of the American Revolution as located in Russellville, Kentucky they present 4 
colors in our illustrious chamber. 5 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Colonel 6 
Benjamin Logan Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. 7 
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 8 
Resolution to the office of Senator Mike Wilson for presentation. 9
