A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Kathy Jo 1 
Dowdle. 2 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jo Dowdle was born on September 8, 1959, to J.W. Reece and 3 
Nelda Freeman. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, she grew up with her brother and two 4 
sisters; and 5 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jo Dowdle graduated from Westport High School on the east 6 
side of Louisville in 1977. She continued her education studying psychology at Jefferson 7 
Community and Technical College and elementary education at the University of 8 
Louisville; and 9 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jo Dowdle was a fierce advocate for equity and social justice. 10 
She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. On October 7, 1985, she married 11 
Stephen Dowdle, and from that 37-year union the couple raised two daughters; and 12 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jo Dowdle departed this world on Wednesday, November 23, 13 
2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.W. Reece and Nelda Freeman and a 14 
sister, Debbi Reece Ianotti; and 15 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jo Dowdle's legacy will continue with her survivors, including 16 
her husband, Stephen Dowdle; daughters, Jessica (Eric) Bishop and Blair (Charles) 17 
Dowdle; grandchildren, Parker, Bodhi, and Gus; brother, Wesley (Cheri) Reece; sister, 18 
Susan Reece; nieces, Angela Leigh and Jordan (Blake) Shields; nephew, Jeremiah (Kim) 19 
Reece; and friends Bill W. and Jimmy K.; and 20 
WHEREAS, following the visitation and funeral service, family and friends of 21 
Kathy Jo Dowdle participated in a 12-step recovery meeting; 22 
NOW, THEREFORE, 23 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 24 
Kentucky: 25 
Section 1.   The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 26 
passing of Kathy Jo Dowdle and expresses heartfelt condolences to her family in this 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 856

Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 2 
memory of Kathy Jo Dowdle. 3
