Taylor was born on June 23, 1947, in Lexington, Kentucky, 3 to her late parents Charles Rice and Eliza Washington; and 4 WHEREAS, Bertha M. Taylor will be remembered for her caring nature, infectious 5 laugh, and radiant smile; and 6 WHEREAS, Bertha M. Taylor was a member of Greater Liberty Baptist Church. 7 On February 19, 2023, she was called home to her Lord, Jesus; and 8 WHEREAS, Bertha M. Taylor had resolute and steadfast love for her children, 9 grandchildren, and family. Those who mourn her passing include her husband, Melvin 10 Taylor, Sr.; her daughter, Kathy (Gamel) Ramsey; her sons, Tony (Tara) Taylor and 11 Rodney Rice; her grandchildren, Taylor Ramsey, Trenton Taylor, Neecole Rice, and 12 Jaquan Rice; her sister, Delores (Frederick) Henderson; and a host of other relatives and 13 friends; 14 NOW, THEREFORE, 15 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 16 Kentucky: 17 Section 1. The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 18 passing of Bertha M. Taylor and expresses heartfelt condolences to her family in this 19 time of loss. 20 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 21 memory of Bertha M. Taylor. 22 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this 23 Resolution to Senator Reginald Thomas for delivery to the family. 24
