UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1861 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 3/30/2023 9:08 AM Jacketed A RESOLUTION encouraging the Legislative Research Commission to appoint a 1 task force during the 2023 interim to examine the applicability and acceptance of military 2 occupational experience as it relates to the licensure qualifications of occupations 3 licensed in Kentucky. 4 WHEREAS, members of the United States Armed Forces receive extensive and 5 advanced training in a wide variety of professions; and 6 WHEREAS, veterans transitioning into the civilian workforce bring high levels of 7 skills and aptitude to potential employers; and 8 WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky requires licensing for a wide variety 9 of trades and professions; and 10 WHEREAS, Kentucky's employers have a critical need for qualified individuals to 11 join their workforce; and 12 WHEREAS, Kentucky's state agencies and boards need clarification and direction 13 on what military occupation experiences are applicable to their licensure requirements; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, the dedication, service, and sacrifice members of the military have 16 provided to the nation is invaluable for employers of the Commonwealth; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, 18 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 19 Kentucky: 20 ď˘Section 1. The Senate does hereby encourage the Legislative Research 21 Commission to appoint a task force during the 2023 interim to examine the issue of 22 military occupational experience as it relates to the licensure requirements of occupations 23 licensed in Kentucky and to provide clear legislative guidance to the Commonwealth's 24 boards and agencies issuing occupational licenses for the acceptance of transferrable, 25 applicable military occupational experience into meeting licensure requirements. 26
