A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Reverend 1 
James L. Britt. 2 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt served as pastor at Eastwood Baptist Church for 12 3 
years; and 4 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt started the chaplaincy program at The Medical Center 5 
at Bowling Green, where he served for 35 years; and 6 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt earned degrees from Elmhurst College in Chicago, 7 
Illinois, in 1950, and from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1954; and 8 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt was inducted into the duPont Manual High School Hall 9 
of Fame, where he graduated with honors; and 10 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt received the prestigious Jefferson Award for the 11 
countless hours of voluntary service he devoted to various local organizations and the 12 
citizens of Bowling Green, and he represented his region at the national Jefferson Awards 13 
ceremony held in Washington, D.C.; and 14 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt's greatest achievement was proclaiming the Gospel of 15 
Jesus Christ to countless people during his lifetime, and he never let an opportunity pass 16 
without sharing the plan of salvation to someone no matter their social status; and 17 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt was the son of the late Frank D. and Adeline D. Britt; 18 
and 19 
WHEREAS, Reverend. Britt departed this earthly life and went home to the Lord 20 
on January 18, 2023; and 21 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Doris, 22 
his brother Frank H. Britt, and his daughter, Elizabeth Marie Bradford; and 23 
WHEREAS, Reverend Britt is survived by his son, Barton L. (Donna) Britt; five 24 
grandchildren, Sarah Britt (Chris) Minix, Daniel Aaron Britt, Jamie Bradford (Shane) 25 
Powers, Emily Bradford (Mark) Booth, and Jay Bradford; and eleven great-26 
grandchildren, Drake Reynolds, Reese Reynolds, Townes Britt, Charlotte Powers, 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	23 RS BR 1171

NOW, THEREFORE, 3 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 4 
Kentucky: 5 
Section 1.   The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 6 
passing of Reverend James L. Britt and expresses heartfelt condolences to his family in 7 
this time of loss. 8 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 9 
memory of Reverend James L. Britt. 10 
Section 3.   The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this 11 
Resolution to Senator Mike Wilson for delivery to the family. 12
