UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1235 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/3/2023 3:44 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Raymond 1 Paul Wilt. 2 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt was born in Geneva, Ohio, on November 14, 3 1945, the fifth of nine children; and 4 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt was a proud graduate of Kent State University, 5 receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy while working at Wright's Department 6 Store in Kent, Ohio, where he met his future wife Linda Jean Ludwick; and 7 WHEREAS, upon graduation, Raymond Paul Wilt married Linda and enlisted as a 8 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea until his honorable 9 discharge, after which he and his wife moved to Kentucky with their two children, Tonja 10 Marie and Clinton Michael, eventually settling in Bowling Green; and 11 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt, upon leaving the military, joined federal law 12 enforcement with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, serving for 30 years, 13 and inspiring a local author to create a detective character based on him in his novel; and 14 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt, after retiring from federal law enforcement, took 15 up farming, but used no motorized equipment for his farming enterprises, choosing to 16 work the land with only mules and oxen; and 17 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt, loved sharing his hobbies with others, from 18 teaching Latin to his grandsons, Robert and Ethan Purcell, to volunteering with New 19 Beginnings Therapeutic Riding, the Knights of Columbus, and Hospice of Southern 20 Kentucky; and 21 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt was a longtime parishioner and usher at Holy 22 Spirit Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church, greeting parishioners at the door 23 for 30 years; and 24 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt departed this earthly life on January 20, 2023; and 25 WHEREAS, Raymond Paul Wilt will be deeply missed by his community and his 26 family; 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1235 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/3/2023 3:44 PM Jacketed NOW, THEREFORE, 1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 2 Kentucky: 3 Section 1. The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 4 passing of Raymond Paul Wilt and expresses heartfelt condolences to his family in this 5 time of loss. 6 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 7 memory of Raymond Paul Wilt. 8 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this 9 Resolution to Senator Mike Wilson for delivery to the family. 10
