A RESOLUTION recognizing Fire Chief Freddy Dewitt of the New Haven/Rolling 1 
Fork Fire Department on the occasion of his retirement. 2 
WHEREAS, at age 16, Chief Fred Dewitt began attending meetings of the fire 3 
department, which represented the beginning of his lifelong dedication to serving his 4 
community and interest in fire safety and service; and 5 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt began his service as a firefighter at the age of 18, and 6 
thereafter served as the assistant chief of the New Haven/Rolling Fork Fire Department 7 
for twenty years; and 8 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt has served in his current role as fire chief of the New 9 
Haven/Rolling Fork Fire Department since January 1995; and 10 
WHEREAS, each of Chief Dewitt's many years of service were as a volunteer, 11 
representing a selfless commitment by him to his community; and 12 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt was instrumental in establishing Nelson County as a 911 13 
central dispatch center and served for eight years as chairman of the 911 Board; and 14 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt has served in numerous leadership roles in Nelson 15 
County. He was a charter member of the Nelson County Junior Chamber, a member of 16 
the Nelson County Endowment Committee, New Haven Planning and Zoning Board of 17 
Adjustments, the Iron Horse Festival Committee, and served as a New Haven city 18 
commissioner and mayor pro tem; and 19 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt has also taken on volunteer positions within his 20 
community, coaching and running the local little league baseball league and serving with 21 
the Saint Catherine Parish; and 22 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt's service as fire chief along with his numerous leadership 23 
roles in Nelson County community organizations evidence a deep, life-long commitment 24 
to and love for his community; and 25 
WHEREAS, Chief Dewitt will now enjoy a well-deserved retirement with his 26

years Pam Dewitt, his three children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; 1 
NOW, THEREFORE, 2 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 3 
Kentucky: 4 
Section 1.   The Senate does hereby recognize and commend Fire Chief Freddy 5 
Dewitt of the New Haven/Rolling Fork Fire Department for his long service and extends 6 
its best wishes for his well-deserved retirement. 7 
Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Fire Chief 8 
Freddy Dewitt. 9 
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 10 
Resolution to Senator Higdon for delivery. 11
