A RESOLUTION commemorating the 77th Southern Legislative Conference of 1 
The Council of State Governments Southern Office. 2 
WHEREAS, The Council of State Governments Southern Office, CSG South, is a 3 
nonpartisan, nonprofit member organization that serves the southern legislatures of 4 
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North 5 
Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia; and 6 
WHEREAS, with regionally based leadership and perspective, and national-level 7 
resources, CSG South provides southern legislators and government staff with a wide 8 
variety of programs and services that facilitate regional cooperation and encourage the 9 
exchange of information; and 10 
WHEREAS, CSG South is governed by an Executive Committee made up of 11 
legislative leadership, and policy topics are overseen by six standing policy committees 12 
that consist of legislators and government staff from the member states; and 13 
WHEREAS, the mission of the organization is to serve as a community of the 14 
states, committed to connecting, informing, inspiring, and empowering public servants in 15 
all three branches of state government to put the best ideas and solutions into practice; 16 
and 17 
WHEREAS, in pursuit of this mission, CSG South has convened the Southern 18 
Legislative Conference (SLC) for the past 76 years, beginning with its inception in Hot 19 
Springs, Arkansas, and moving into decades of fellowship and cooperation between the 20 
15 southern states; and 21 
WHEREAS, the 77th Southern Legislative Conference will convene in Charleston, 22 
South Carolina, from July 8 to 12, 2023; and 23 
WHEREAS, more than 1,500 legislators, government staff, and their families will 24 
gather to discuss policy matters specifically affecting southern states to bridge 25 
commonalities and discuss solutions for current policy trends, challenges, and 26

NOW, THEREFORE, 1 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 2 
Kentucky: 3 
Section 1.  The members of the Senate highlight and commend the annual 4 
Southern Legislative Conference, and welcome all southern legislative, executive, and 5 
judicial officials to attend.  6 
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 7 
Resolution to Senator Mike Wilson. 8
