A RESOLUTION honoring the Future Business Leaders of America, Inc. 1
WHEREAS, the Future Business Leaders of America, Inc. (FBLA) is the largest 2
business career and technical nonprofit educational student organization in the world; and 3
WHEREAS, FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded 4
business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership 5
experiences; and 6
WHEREAS, the original concept for FBLA was developed in 1937; and 7
WHEREAS, the first FBLA high school chapter was chartered in Tennessee in 8
1942, the first collegiate chapter chartered in Iowa in 1958, and the first middle school 9
division chartered in 1994; and 10
WHEREAS, The Academy @ Shawnee in Louisville, Kentucky, officially 11
chartered its FBLA chapter on January 27, 1976; and 12
WHEREAS, as an organization, FBLA now includes more than 250,000 members 13
and advisors in 4,600 chapters nationwide in its middle school, high school, and 14
collegiate divisions; and 15
WHEREAS, FBLA synergizes business and education through its career 16
development programs and innovative leadership training programs; and 17
WHEREAS, members perform community service activities and strive to build 18
student understanding of the realities of the modern business world; and 19
WHEREAS, FBLA teaches the students in each of its divisions basic business and 20
leadership principles, and this instruction is crucial to their successful transition from 21
school into a work environment; 22
NOW, THEREFORE, 23
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 24
Kentucky: 25
Section 1. The Senate hereby recognizes the week of February 5-12, 2023, as 26

Section 2. The Senate hereby honors and applauds the work of the Future 1
Business Leaders of America, Inc. and its members in Kentucky. 2
