A proud graduate of Western Kentucky 4 University, she earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston 5 College of Optometry; and 6 WHEREAS, Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris has provided comprehensive eye care 7 for patients of all ages at Brandenburg Eye Care in Brandenburg, Kentucky, Hardinsburg 8 Eye Care in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, and Emmick Eye Care in Hawesville, Kentucky, 9 with expertise in surgical co-management, minor surgical procedures, specialty contact 10 lens fitting, and ocular diseases; and 11 WHEREAS, on Friday, April 22, 2022, Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris was sworn 12 in as the president of the Kentucky Optometric Association; and 13 WHEREAS, Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris goes above and beyond in her field of 14 study, serving as a participant of the Kentucky Vision Project, donating eye exams to 15 qualifying citizens, providing care for infants, and serving as a member of the American 16 Optometric Association; and 17 WHEREAS, Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris pursued a career in Optometry with the 18 encouragement of her mother, Dr. Rosemary Emmick, with whom she has had the 19 privilege of practicing for over the last ten years; and 20 WHEREAS, Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris also serves as the president of the 21 Hancock County Public Library Board and is a past president of the Hancock County 22 Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Emmick Morris is known throughout the community as a 23 caring physician and fixture of the community; and 24 WHEREAS, this body honors Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris on this day for her 25 years of service as an optometrist, her extraordinary skill, her dedication to her patients 26 and the staff at Brandenburg Eye Care, and her service as president of the Kentucky 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 23 RS BR 1392 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/13/2023 11:37 AM Jacketed Optometric Association and grant her best wishes as she continues to improve the lives of 1 her patients, and also duly honors her husband, Jordan Morris; and their four children, 2 Bradyn, Turner, Georgia Fay and Pearl. 3 NOW, THEREFORE, 4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 5 Kentucky: 6 Section 1. The Senate hereby commends Dr. Mary Beth Emmick Morris upon 7 being named the 2022-2023 Kentucky Optometric Association President and grant her 8 best wishes as she continues to provide quality care to her patients in Brandenburg, 9 Hardinsburg, and Hawesville. 10 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Dr. Mary 11 Beth Emmick Morris. 12 Section 3.
