UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1263 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 1/2/2024 5:08 PM Jacketed AN ACT relating to menstrual products. 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2 ď˘SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 198A IS CREATED TO 3 READ AS FOLLOWS: 4 (1) As used in this section, "homeless shelter" means a supervised publicly or 5 privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations 6 to individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate residence. 7 (2) A homeless shelter that receives state general fund dollars shall provide residents 8 with personal products that are essential to their health and well-being at no cost 9 to the individuals requiring such products. Personal products include but are not 10 limited to: 11 (a) An adequate number of menstrual products commensurate with an 12 individual's needs, including sanitary napkins, tampons, and panty liners; 13 (b) Condoms; 14 (c) Dental dams; 15 (d) Urinary tract and yeast infection medication; and 16 (e) Emergency contraceptives. 17 (3) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall provide any available state or 18 federal funding, including any funding for public assistance as defined in KRS 19 205.010, to homeless shelters to assist in purchasing personal products for 20 residents. 21
