UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2062 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/22/2024 3:42 PM Jacketed AN ACT relating to early intervention services for children. 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2 ď˘Section 1. KRS 200.666 is amended to read as follows: 3 (1) The cabinet shall monitor personnel standards for service providers to ensure the 4 qualified service providers necessary to carry out the provisions of KRS 200.650 to 5 200.676 are appropriately and adequately prepared and trained in order to comply 6 with the requirements of federal law and regulations. 7 (2) The cabinet shall provide the components of a comprehensive system of personnel 8 development which shall include: 9 (a) Preservice and inservice training conducted on an interdisciplinary basis to the 10 extent appropriate; and 11 (b) Training provided for a variety of entities, including but not limited to, public 12 and private providers, primary referral sources, parents, paraprofessionals, and 13 persons who serve as professional service coordinators or case managers. 14 (3) Training may include: 15 (a) Implementing innovative strategies and activities for the recruitment and 16 retention of early intervention service providers; 17 (b) Promoting the preparation of early intervention providers who are fully and 18 appropriately qualified to provide early intervention; 19 (c) Training personnel to work in rural areas; and 20 (d) Recruiting and training personnel to coordinate transition services for infants 21 and toddlers with disabilities from an early intervention program to a 22 preschool program. 23 (4) The cabinet shall coordinate with other agencies, including but not limited to the 24 Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, the Kentucky 25 Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapy, the Kentucky Board of Physical 26 Therapy, and any other Kentucky boards which license providers of early 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2062 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/22/2024 3:42 PM Jacketed intervention services in the provision of the comprehensive system of personnel 1 development and training activities to ensure that the personnel development and 2 training activities required pursuant to this section are offered and completed as 3 part of continuing education requirements of the respective provider licensure 4 boards. 5
