AN ACT relating to political spending by public school districts and declaring an 1
emergency. 2
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 3
SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 160 IS CREATED TO 4
READ AS FOLLOWS: 5
A public school district, public school, public charter school, or educational 6
cooperative shall not, directly or indirectly, expend any moneys appropriated by the 7
General Assembly or any other moneys derived from bequests, charges, deposits, 8
donations, endowments, fees, grants, gifts, income, receipts, tuition, or any other 9
source to advocate for or against any public question that appears on the ballot. 10
Section 2. Whereas school funds should be used for the education of students, 11
an emergency is declared to exist, and this Act takes effect upon its passage and approval 12
by the Governor or upon its otherwise becoming a law. 13
