A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Donald Loren "Doc" Holliday Memorial 1 
Highway in Perry County.  2 
WHEREAS, Donald Loren "Doc" Holliday was born on September 4, 1975, in 3 
Perry County, Kentucky to Donald and Freda Napier Holliday; and  4 
WHEREAS, Doc Holliday spent his life as a servant to the people of his 5 
community, beginning his career of service with the Hazard Police Department, and 6 
going on to serve with the Perry County Sheriff's Department; and  7 
WHEREAS, in July, 1999, Doc Holliday joined the Kentucky State Police as a 8 
member of Cadet Class No. 76; and  9 
WHEREAS, during Doc Holliday's service with the Kentucky State Police, he 10 
served as a road trooper, trooper first class, a master trooper, and as a member of the 11 
Governor's executive security detail; and  12 
WHEREAS, in 2005, Doc Holliday was awarded the Governor's Medal of Valor 13 
after saving the life of a two year old child; and  14 
WHEREAS, Doc Holliday tragically died on September 3, 2019, in a traffic 15 
accident, and is survived by his parents and his son, Bennett Pierce Holliday; and  16 
WHEREAS, Doc Holliday went above and beyond to serve his community and the 17 
Commonwealth throughout his career as a law enforcement officer, and his commitment 18 
and dedication deserves tangible recognition; 19 
NOW, THEREFORE, 20 
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 21 
Section 1.   The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 1088 in 22 
Perry County, from its intersection with Kentucky Route 476 to mile point 5, as the 23 
"Donald Loren 'Doc' Holliday Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days of the 24 
effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 25
