A RESOLUTION recognizing April 18, 2024, as National Lineman Appreciation 1
Day. 2
WHEREAS, the men and women who serve as utility linemen build and maintain 3
electric power, telephone, cable television, and fiber optic lines; and 4
WHEREAS, linemen are often first responders during storms and other catastrophic 5
events, working to make the scene safe for other public safety heroes; and 6
WHEREAS, to keep electricity flowing, linemen work with thousands of volts of 7
electricity high atop power lines 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; and 8
WHEREAS, linemen must often work under dangerous conditions far from their 9
families to construct and maintain the energy infrastructure of the Commonwealth; and 10
WHEREAS, linemen put their lives on the line every day with little recognition 11
from the community regarding the danger of their work; 12
NOW, THEREFORE, 13
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the 14
Commonwealth of Kentucky: 15
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives hereby express, on 16
behalf of their constituents, their sincere appreciation for the important work of the 17
linemen of Duke Energy, Kentucky electric cooperatives, Kentucky Power Company, 18
and Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities Company, on the occasion of 19
National Lineman Appreciation Day, April 18, 2024. 20
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in 21
honor, recognition, and celebration of Kentucky's utility linemen. 22
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a 23
copy of this Resolution to Representative Jared Bauman for delivery to the appropriate 24
parties. 25
