AN ACT relating to foreign organizations in education. 1
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 2
SECTION 1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 156 IS CREATED TO 3
READ AS FOLLOWS: 4
The Kentucky Department of Education, any public school district, any public charter 5
school, and any nonpublic school that receives state funds shall not enter into any 6
contract or agreement with a government-organized nongovernmental organization 7
based in the People's Republic of China for the purpose of providing educational 8
services for students in Kentucky. 9
SECTION 2. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 164 IS CREATED TO 10
READ AS FOLLOWS: 11
The Council for Postsecondary Education and any public postsecondary institution 12
shall not enter into any contract or agreement with a government-organized 13
nongovernmental organization based in the People's Republic of China for the 14
purposes of providing educational services for students in Kentucky. 15
Section 3. Any contract or agreement formed by Kentucky Department of 16
Education, a public school district, a public charter school, the Council for Postsecondary 17
Education, or a public postsecondary institution with a government-organized 18
nongovernmental organization based in the People's Republic of China for the purposes 19
of providing educational services for students in Kentucky that is in effect on the 20
effective date of this Act becoming law shall not be renewed by the public entity at the 21
conclusion of the agreement or contract. 22
