UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2424 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 2/28/2024 12:27 PM Jacketed A JOINT RESOLUTION designating a portion of Kentucky Route 2049 in 1 Jefferson County as the Cozy and Linnes Chester Memorial Highway. 2 WHEREAS, Cozy Mae Knight Chester was born March 3, 1933, to Frank and 3 Oneal Knight, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and 4 WHEREAS, Linnes Lee Chester Sr. was born on November 16, 1929, to Willie and 5 Willie Mae Perkins Chester, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and 6 WHEREAS, Cozy and Linnes Chester were married on February 10, 1951, and 7 went on to have six beautiful children together; and 8 WHEREAS, both Cozy and Linnes Chester had deep Christian faith and were 9 members of the New Asia Baptist Church. Linnes Chester served the church as a deacon 10 and Cozy Chester served as an usher until 1999; and 11 WHEREAS, Linnes Chester traversed these earthly bounds on January 3, 1999; and 12 WHEREAS, Cozy Chester then relocated to Louisville and became an active 13 member of the community. She attended charity events and was a regular volunteer for 14 "Hats for Hope"; and 15 WHEREAS, Cozy Chester passed away on December 3, 2019, joining her late 16 beloved husband, Linnes Chester, in Heaven; and 17 WHEREAS, Cozy and Linnes Chester are deeply missed by their friends and 18 family, and are survived by their children: Representative Beverly Chester-Burton, 19 Colonel Linnes Chester Jr., Mary Chester, Ronnie Chester, Linda Foster, and Delores 20 Saywer; 21 NOW, THEREFORE, 22 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: 23 ď˘Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the portion of Kentucky 24 Route 2049 in Jefferson County, from its intersection with Kentucky Route 1934 to mile 25 point 1.7, as the "Cozy and Linnes Chester Memorial Highway" and shall, within 30 days 26 of the effective date of this Resolution, erect appropriate signs denoting this designation. 27
