A RESOLUTION honoring the life of Benedict Francis Schickel. 1 
WHEREAS, Benedict Francis ("Ben") Schickel was born August 24, 1959, to his 2 
parents William and Mary Schickel; and 3 
WHEREAS, Ben was steadfast in his faith; he was a member of the Catholic faith 4 
in his earlier years and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the 5 
end of his life; and  6 
WHEREAS, he carried his faith into all that he did and every encounter with the 7 
people he met; and 8 
WHEREAS, Ben graduated from St. Columban Grade School and Moeller High 9 
School in Ohio; and 10 
WHEREAS, he was a talented artist and studied photography at Antonelli College 11 
in Cincinnati; and 12 
WHEREAS, Ben leaves behind his ten siblings and their partners, and a host of 13 
extended family that will miss him greatly; and 14 
WHEREAS, he spent much of his life fighting obstacles and did so with the 15 
humility and grace that were the trademark for all who were touched by his presence; and 16 
WHEREAS, Ben died peacefully on May 15, 2023, from ALS -related 17 
complications; and 18 
WHEREAS, Ben will be remembered and tremendously missed by his family, his 19 
friends, his AA community, his colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched; 20 
NOW, THEREFORE, 21 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 22 
Kentucky: 23 
Section 1.   The Senate hereby expresses its deepest sympathies for the family of 24 
Benedict Francis Schickel and sends its thoughts and prayers throughout the family's 25 
healing journey. 26 
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 27  UNOFFICIAL COPY  	24 RS BR 185
