A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of 2023-2024 Kentucky 1
Optometric Association President Dr. Joseph Hammond. 2
WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph Hammond, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, has practiced 3
optometry for over 12 years. A proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, he earned 4
his Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, 5
Tennessee; and 6
WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph Hammond has provided comprehensive eye care in 7
Louisville, Kentucky, for his entire career at VisionFirst EyeCare, where he practices 8
full-scope optometric care ranging from comprehensive eye exams to pre- and post-9
operative care for cataract and vision correction surgery. He also has expertise in 10
diagnosing and treating ocular diseases; and 11
WHEREAS, on Friday, April 21, 2023, Dr. Joseph Hammond was sworn in as the 12
President of the Kentucky Optometric Association; and 13
WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph Hammond goes above and beyond in his field of study, 14
currently serving as a Board Member of the Kentucky School for the Blind Charitable 15
Foundation Inc., and as a member of the American Optometric Association; and 16
WHEREAS, this body honors Dr. Joseph Hammond on this day for his years of 17
service as an optometrist, and his extraordinary skill with his patients and his staff at 18
VisionFirst, grants him best wishes as he continues to improve the lives of his patients, 19
and honors his tenure as the President of the Kentucky Optometric Association; 20
NOW, THEREFORE, 21
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 22
Kentucky: 23
SECTION 1. The Senate hereby commends Dr. Joseph Hammond upon being 24
named the 2023-2024 Kentucky Optometric Association President and grants him best 25
wishes as he continues to provide quality care to his patients in Louisville. 26
