A RESOLUTION recognizing and honoring Franseda Gunn upon the news of her 1 
upcoming induction to the 5th Region Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. 2 
WHEREAS, Franseda Gunn, who played for the Marion County girls' basketball 3 
team from 1980 to 1983, was one of the most decorated players in the storied history of 4 
the Lady Knights program; and 5 
WHEREAS, Franseda Gunn scored 1,242 points during her high school career, 6 
which places her 11th in Lady Knights history; and 7 
WHEREAS, Franseda Gunn, playing in a game without the three-point line, made 8 
her true mark dominating the inside with her rebounding and defense. Her 862 career 9 
rebounds are still the second-best total in school history, and she still holds the school 10 
record for most rebounds in a game with 28; and 11 
WHEREAS, under the tutelage of legendary Marion County coach Sis Roby, 12 
Franseda Gunn developed an aggressive mindset, and gave credit to her coach, saying, 13 
"Rebounding was my passion. Sis instilled in me and the rest of the team that we had to 14 
learn to block out. We learned how to get on the floor for loose balls, not just reach down 15 
and try to pick it up"; and 16 
WHEREAS, during Franseda Gunn's career, Marion County won three district titles 17 
and a pair of 5th Region championships, and she received All-State Honors her final two 18 
years; and 19 
WHEREAS, after starting her collegiate career at Marshall University, Franseda 20 
Gunn transferred to Campbellsville, where she played for Hall of Fame coach Donna 21 
Wise, and her 14.4 rebounds per game average in a season is still the school record; and 22 
WHEREAS, Franseda Gunn averaged 17.7 points a game during her college career, 23 
and was a three-time all-conference selection, a 1987 Kodak All-American, and the 24 
NAIA District 32 Player of the Year in 1987; and 25 
WHEREAS, Franseda Gunn then embarked on a successful career as an educator 26

who were a lot like her as a child find much-needed direction and purpose in their lives; 1 
and 2 
WHEREAS, Franseda Gunn was recently recognized at her alma mater when it was 3 
announced that she would be inducted into the 5th Region Athletic Directors Hall of 4 
Fame in March as part of the Class of 2024; 5 
NOW, THEREFORE, 6 
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 7 
Kentucky: 8 
Section 1. The members of the Senate join Senator Jimmy Higdon in 9 
recognizing the athletic and professional accomplishments of Franseda Gunn, 10 
congratulating her on her upcoming induction to the 5th Region Athletic Directors Hall 11 
of Fame, and wishing her good fortune in all continued endeavors. 12 
Section 2.   The Clerk of the Senate shall forward a copy of this Resolution to 13 
Senator Jimmy Higdon for presentation to Franseda Gunn. 14
