UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2145 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/19/2024 12:15 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Deborah 1 Parrish Gilpin. 2 WHEREAS, Deborah Parrish Gilpin was born on September 3, 1955, and she 3 passed from this life on February 17, 2024; and 4 WHEREAS, Deborah Gilpin was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a 5 true blue fan of the Wildcats, attending the first games held in Rupp Arena and 6 Commonwealth Stadium; and 7 WHEREAS, Deborah Gilpin was employed by the Fruit of the Loom company 8 from 1973 to 1980 and again from 1982 to 1998, where she learned to love sewing; and 9 WHEREAS, Deborah Gilpin was a gifted quilter and an excellent seamstress. From 10 1981 to 1982, She was employed by Laurene's Bridal Shop. She was well known in 11 Taylor County and the surrounding areas for making alterations, specializing in formal 12 dresses; and 13 WHEREAS, Deborah Gilpin was active in her community, where she was a 14 member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 40 years and served as vice 15 president of the Taylor County 4-H Council; and 16 WHEREAS, Deborah Gilpin loved the history of her community and family and 17 was passionate about genealogy. She was a member of the Taylor County Historical 18 Society, president of the Hiestand House Museum Foundation, and a member of the 19 National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution; and 20 WHEREAS, Deborah Gilpin is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry Gilpin; 21 her daughter, Miranda (Corey) Zottman; her son, Aaron (Meredith) Gilpin; her 22 grandchildren, John and Jack Zottman and Cora Gilpin; and a host of other family and 23 friends; 24 NOW, THEREFORE, 25 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 26 Kentucky: 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2145 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/19/2024 12:15 PM Jacketed Section 1.
