Adkins. 2 WHEREAS, Jess Adkins was born on September 20, 1935, in Roscoe, Kentucky, to 3 the late E.J. and Effie Moore Adkins; and 4 WHEREAS, Jess Adkins dedicated himself to the youth of Elliott County and 5 retired from employment with Elliott County’s Board of Education after 55 years. 6 Understanding the value of education, Jess taught everything that could be taught while 7 coaching every sport that was in need of a coach. In addition, he trained bus drivers for 8 the Elliott County school district. Long after retirement, he could still be found 9 supporting Elliott County’s athletic programs, primarily in the gymnasium; and 10 WHEREAS, Jess Adkins was a devoted member of both the First Baptist Church of 11 Sandy Hook and Hepburn Lodge 576 of Sandy Hook. He took great pride in his faith, 12 family, and Kentucky sports; and 13 WHEREAS, Jess Adkins was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, 14 Helen Fern Adkins; son, David Adkins; brother, Randall Adkins; and sister, Ina "Girl" 15 Mason; and 16 WHEREAS, Jess Adkins is survived by his son, Rocky J. (Leah) Adkins; 17 grandchildren, Michael David Adkins, Jennifer Adkins, Kristen (Josh) Salyers, Branden 18 (Emily) Adkins, and Tori (Dalton Fields) Adkins; great grandchildren, Jaxon Salyers, 19 Abram Salyers, Jacob Adkins, Miley Grace "Tootsie" Adkins, and Mayven Rae "Trixie" 20 Adkins; daughter-in-law, Kathy Adkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and neighbors 21 who will sadly mourn his passing; 22 NOW, THEREFORE, 23 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 24 Kentucky: 25 Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sympathy upon 26 the passing of Jessie "Jess" J.
