UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2413 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 2/27/2024 5:35 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Ernest 1 "Ernie" Lynn King. 2 WHEREAS, Ernest "Ernie" Lynn King was born September 15, 1952, in Maysville, 3 Kentucky, to the late William Samuel King and Helen Brown King; and 4 WHEREAS, Ernie King was a 1971 graduate of Maysville High School and was 5 dedicated to his community as a member of the Olivet United Methodist Church. He was 6 also a Kentucky Colonel; and 7 WHEREAS, Ernie King was a lifelong professional musician. While in Maysville, 8 he began playing guitar at the age of 12 in a local band, "The Whatsits." Thereafter, he 9 played with "Uncle John's Band" and "Big Bear." Upon moving to Lexington, he played 10 with "Doug Breeding and The Bunch," and in Nashville, he played with the band, "Stone 11 Creek"; and 12 WHEREAS, while living in Nashville, Ernie King worked at the Gibson Guitar 13 Company and oversaw its custom shop. There he made, modified, and maintained the 14 guitars of many stars, including Joe Perry, Peter Frampton, Roy Orbison, Vince Gill, 15 Steve Miller, Zakk Wylde, Slash, and Paul McCartney. He also led the "Gibson 16 Corporate Band," which backed up stars at promotional and charity events. Ernie retired 17 from Gibson Guitar Company after 33 years of dedicated service; and 18 WHEREAS, after retirement from Gibson Guitar Company, Ernie King operated 19 his small business, Ernie King Custom Guitars; and 20 WHEREAS, Ernie King was preceded in death by his brother, William Samuel 21 "Kline" King, Jr.; and 22 WHEREAS, Ernie King is survived by his wife, Vicki Brammer King; daughter, 23 Abbie (Caleb Galster) Lee King; grandchildren, Wyatt Galster, Townes Galster, 24 Christopher Osman, Heatherly Osman, and Landon Osman; sister, Linda Schmidt; and a 25 host of others who will sadly mourn his passing; 26 NOW, THEREFORE, 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2413 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 2/27/2024 5:35 PM Jacketed Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1 Kentucky: 2 Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sympathy upon 3 the passing of Ernest "Ernie" Lynn King, and extends heartfelt condolences to his family 4 in this time of loss. 5 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 6 memory of Ernest "Ernie" Lynn King. 7 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 8 Resolution to Senator Stephen West for delivery to the family. 9
