A RESOLUTION in honor and loving memory of Gary Dale Johnson. 1
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson was born on May 26, 1954, in Tompkinsville, 2
Kentucky to the late C.B. "Tuck" Johnson and Anna Sue (Douglas) Johnson; and 3
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 4
1972 and received an associate's degree in agriculture mechanization from Western 5
Kentucky University in 1975; and 6
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson worked for the Production Credit Association 7
(PCA) managing the product leasing division at PCA's headquarters in Tompkinsville 8
and then worked for 20 years at General Electric and AO Smith in Scottsville; and 9
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson had a great love of cars, trucks, and boats, and 10
operated his own small business, Mid-South Auto Brokers, in Fountain Run. Gary shared 11
this love of motor vehicles with his children, and would often find and fix up four-12
wheelers, scooters, dune-buggies, jet-skis, and more; and 13
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson was an award-winning drag racing participant, 14
winning with his beloved 1969 Rally Sport Camaro, and numerous truck pull 15
competitions; and 16
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson loved sharing his passion for the great outdoors 17
with his family, especially in the water teaching his kids to ski on Barren Run Lake, and 18
raising cattle on his farm in Fountain Run; and 19
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson fostered community wherever he went and was a 20
proud member of Fountain Run First Baptist Church; and 21
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson departed this earthly life on July, 27, 2023. In 22
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew D. & 23
Florence (Stanford) Johnson and Elvis H. & Rhoda A. (Slayton) Douglas; and 24
WHEREAS, Gary Dale Johnson is survived by his children, Andi Johnson and Lee 25
Douglas (Sarah) Johnson; his siblings, Danny (Donna Sue) Johnson and Timmy 26
(Tammy) Johnson; his grandchildren, Everett Lee Johnson and Noah Anthony Johnson; 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 417

his nieces, Stacey (Mark) Simmons, Nikki (Wesley) King, Kala (Kaleb) Holland, and 1
Kelsey Johnson; nephew, Kole Johnson; and great nieces, Courtney Cornelius, Makayla 2
Cornelius, Addison King, and Raelynn Short. He is also survived by his beloved 3
Labrador Retriever, Maggie; 4
NOW, THEREFORE, 5
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 6
Kentucky: 7
Section 1. The members of the Senate do hereby extend their most profound 8
sympathy upon the passing of Gary Dale Johnson. 9
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 10
memory of Gary Dale Johnson. 11
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 12
Resolution to Senator Max Wise for delivery to the family. 13
