UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2445 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 3/7/2024 4:40 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION honoring the life and accomplishments of Dr. Harry Ward,. 1 WHEREAS, Harry Ward was born on August 30, 1948, in Gibson County, 2 Tennessee, where he spent his childhood working on a farm and raising animals leading 3 him to pursue early admittance to the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine, 4 where he graduated in 1972; and 5 WHEREAS, after a year of internship at the Collierville Animal Clinic in the spring 6 of 1973, Dr. Ward seized the opportunity to purchase a small animal veterinary practice 7 in Fulton, Kentucky, where he dedicated over 50 years of renowned service traveling 8 throughout the Commonwealth and across several states caring for a wide variety of 9 animals, such as dogs, cats, pigs, horses, sheep, birds, snakes, and other wild animals; and 10 WHEREAS, Dr. Ward was beloved outside veterinary medicine as a longtime 11 member of the Fulton/South Fulton Rotary Club, where he was recognized as a Paul 12 Harris Fellow. He also served as a youth and couples Sunday school teacher; and 13 WHEREAS, when not working, Dr. Ward spent his time farming, raising cattle, 14 playing tennis or ping pong, and enjoying basketball; and 15 WHEREAS, Dr. Ward passed away on October 5, 2023; and 16 WHEREAS, Dr. Ward will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Sally; 17 daughter, Betsy; his son; Wallace; and his four grandchildren; 18 NOW, THEREFORE, 19 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 20 Kentucky: 21 Section 1. The Senate hereby recognizes Dr. Harry Ward for his lifetime 22 dedicated to service and care for animals throughout Kentucky as well as his community. 23 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 24 Resolution to Senator Jason Howell for delivery. 25
