A RESOLUTION honoring the cadets of the Lewis County High School 2024 1
Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps Precision Shooting Team. 2
WHEREAS, on February 10, 2024, the cadets of the Lewis County High School 3
(LCHS) 2024 Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Precision Shooting 4
Team earned the program's second consecutive state title in the Precision Rifle Division 5
at the Kentucky State Rifle Match; and 6
WHEREAS, among the LCHS team's many accomplishments over the past two 7
years, the cadets also won the 2023 Ohio State Championship and qualified and 8
competed in the National Junior Olympics, where they placed in the top 20; and 9
WHEREAS, against other JROTC teams, the LCHS team is currently ranked 1st in 10
the 7th Brigade, which covers five states, and 7th in their region, which covers a large 11
part of the globe, from Alaska to Germany; and 12
WHEREAS, the LCHS team has qualified to compete in the upcoming All-Army 13
Championships; and 14
WHEREAS, the LCHS team is ranked in the top 10 in their region among other 15
civilian teams and in the top 20 in the nation. They have already qualified for the 2024 16
regional and national championships for the second time; and 17
WHEREAS, the LCHS team consists of Cadet Mya Burriss, Cadet Shiane 18
Wolfenbarger, Cadet Courtney Carpenter, and Cadet Edin Skidmore; and 19
WHEREAS, the JROTC Precision Shooting Team is led by instructors Master 20
Sergeant (Ret.) James Stone and Major Ricky Vittitow Jr.; and 21
WHEREAS, these exceptional young marksmen have demonstrated extraordinary 22
skill and determination as well as laudable patriotism by taking part in the LCHS JROTC 23
program, and they have brought tremendous honor and pride to LCHS, Lewis County, 24
and the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky by the attainment of such a phenomenal level 25
of success and achievement; 26

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1
Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The members of the Senate join Senator Robin Webb in 3
congratulating the Lewis County High School 2024 JROTC Precision Shooting Team on 4
their 2024 state championship, applauding their many accomplishments, and wishing the 5
cadets and coaches good fortune in future endeavors. 6
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate shall transmit a copy of this Resolution to 7
Senator Robin Webb for presentation to the team. 8
