A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Jimmy 1
Maurice Lawson. 2
WHEREAS, Jimmy Maurice Lawson was born on October 26, 1947, and was a 3
native son of the Meadow Creek community of Rockholds, Kentucky; and 4
WHEREAS, Jimmy Maurice Lawson was a pipefitter who worked for the L & N 5
Railroad, which later became the CSX Railroad. He was a faithful railroad employee for 6
39 years until his retirement; and 7
WHEREAS, Jimmy Maurice Lawson was a member of the Lickfork Missionary 8
Baptist Church of London; and 9
WHEREAS, Jimmy Maurice Lawson most enjoyed supporting and spending time 10
with the love of his life, his wife, Marion Rhea. The two appreciated working together on 11
their farm, and Mr. Lawson assisted with his wife's veterinary practice. When the couple 12
was not working with animals or on the land, they were seen attending many horse 13
shows, during which, Mr. Lawson took on the role of being his wife's photographer and 14
videographer; and 15
WHEREAS, Jimmy Maurice Lawson loved spending time with his family and 16
friends; and 17
WHEREAS, on March 6, 2024, Jimmy Maurice Lawson passed away peacefully at 18
home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Melda Lawson, and his 19
brother, Jack L. Lawson; and 20
WHEREAS, many family and friends will mourn the passing of Jimmy Maurice 21
Lawson, including his loving wife, Marion Rhea Pennington; son, Jack W. (Carla) 22
Lawson; stepdaughter, Andrea Daniele Sutton; and grandchildren, Tyler Lawson and 23
Kaitlyn Lawson; 24
NOW, THEREFORE, 25
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 26

Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sympathy upon the 1
passing of Jimmy Maurice Lawson. 2
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 3
memory of Jimmy Maurice Lawson. 4
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 5
Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for delivery to the family. 6
