A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and recognition of Mark Haney 1
upon his retirement as president of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and the 2
Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Company. 3
WHEREAS, Mark Haney was elected Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation president 4
in December 2008, and elected president of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance 5
Company in March 2009, following three years as the first vice president and seven years 6
as second vice president of their executive committees; and 7
WHEREAS, after serving as president of both organizations for 15 years, Mark 8
Haney was elected as immediate past president of Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation in 9
December 2023, and elected immediate past president of Kentucky Farm Bureau 10
Insurance Company in March 2024, making him the longest serving president in the 11
history of Kentucky Farm Bureau; and 12
WHEREAS, Mark Haney is a past director of the Southern Farm Bureau Life 13
Insurance Company and Farm Bureau Bancorp, which provides banking and financial 14
services for Farm Bureau members in 39 states; and 15
WHEREAS, Mark Haney is a member of the American Agricultural Insurance 16
Board of Directors, and is a past director of the American Farm Bureau Federation 17
serving as a representative of the southern region following his election to the national 18
organization's board in January 2009; and 19
WHEREAS, Mark Haney is a past president of the Pulaski County Farm Bureau 20
and the Kentucky Center for Cooperative Development, and the past chair of Kentucky 21
Farm Bureau's State Resolutions Committee and the Kentucky Horticulture Council; and 22
WHEREAS, Mark Haney, a Pulaski County native, produces apples, peaches, and 23
beef cattle on his farm near Nancy, Kentucky, in partnership with his brother, Don 24
Haney; and 25
WHEREAS, Mark and Don Haney operate a Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Farm 26
Market selling fresh produce, cider, jellies, baked goods, and other products from the 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2482

farm with help, love, and support from Mark's wife Marlene and their three children; and 1
WHEREAS, Mark Haney's dedication to the more than 75,000 farms of Kentucky 2
has enriched the Commonwealth and helped Kentucky become an international 3
agricultural contributor and asset. His leadership has ensured that thousands of acres of 4
Kentucky farm lands will be preserved for future generations and for the growth of 5
Kentucky's economy for years to come; 6
NOW, THEREFORE, 7
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 8
Kentucky: 9
Section 1. The Senate hereby congratulates Mark Haney on his retirement and 10
thanks him for his tremendous leadership and service to the Commonwealth as president 11
of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance 12
Company. 13
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in recognition and 14
commendation of Mark Haney. 15
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 16
Resolution to Senator Brandon Storm for delivery. 17
