A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Vikki 1
Denise Akers. 2
WHEREAS, Vikki Denise Bartley Akers was born on July 11, 1952, to loving 3
parents, Victor and Maudie Bartley; and 4
WHEREAS, Vikki Akers devoted her whole life to loving and taking good care of 5
all around her; she was crucial to creating a community that all could feel loved in; and 6
WHEREAS, Vikki Akers had an unwavering love for dogs. Beginning as a young 7
girl, she adopted numerous dogs, including Speck, Spider, Pixie, Giger, Rags, Jake, 8
Punkin, Harper, Rhoda, and Country. Her intense love was reflected by her animals as 9
they followed her closely wherever she went; and 10
WHEREAS, Vikki Akers leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and deep 11
connection for the animal world; and 12
WHEREAS, on April 5, 2024, Vikki Akers passed away peacefully at home, 13
surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Brenda 14
Bartley Clevinger; and son, Eric Akers; and 15
WHEREAS, Vikki Akers is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim; her 16
daughter, Lindsey Akers (Nick) Lynch; three adorable grandchildren, Jax, Bailey, and 17
Cash; and a sister, Sharon Bartley Sammons; 18
NOW, THEREFORE, 19
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 20
Kentucky: 21
Section 1. The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 22
passing of Vikki Denise Akers and expresses heartfelt condolences to her family and 23
community in this time of loss. 24
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 25
memory of Vikki Denise Akers. 26
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 2525
