UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 187 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 10/23/2023 4:25 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Deputy 1 Sheriff Caleb Conley. 2 WHEREAS, Caleb Kenneth Conley was born on October 12, 1987, to William 3 Kenneth and Jolene Kay Conley; and 4 WHEREAS, Caleb Conley began his public service career with the United States 5 Army Reserve where he served for eight years as a Combat Engineer. While mobilized to 6 Iraq with the United States Army 478th Engineer Battalion, he was honored for brave and 7 courageous service in combat missions; and 8 WHEREAS, in 2019, Caleb Conley graduated basic training for law enforcement 9 officers with Class 506 from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training. He 10 joined the Scott County Sheriff's office as a deputy Sheriff and realized his childhood 11 dream of being a police officer; and 12 WHEREAS, during his four years with the Scott County Sheriff's Office, Deputy 13 Sheriff Caleb Conley received many accolades and awards to honor his exemplary 14 performance. His efforts to create a safer community were recognized statewide by the 15 2022 Governor's Occupant Protection Enforcement Award. In 2020 and again in 2022, he 16 received the Governor's Impaired Driving Enforcement Outstanding Achievement 17 Award; and 18 WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Caleb Conley's exceptional service was also 19 recognized by the Scott County Sheriff's Office, which awarded him the 2021 Chief's 20 Award, the Highway Safety All Star Drive Sober Division Winner, and the 2022 Deputy 21 of the Year; and 22 WHEREAS, Caleb Conley was known throughout the community for his kind heart 23 and willingness to help others. He was an active member of the Clayton Arnold 24 Foundation, a volunteer at Licking River Outfitters, a volunteer and member of the Elk 25 Lodge #438, a Mason, and a volunteer with youth sports and within the community; and 26 WHEREAS, Caleb Conley was a proud father to his children Riley and Olivia 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 187 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 10/23/2023 4:25 PM Jacketed Conley and devoted husband to Rachel Ann Conley; and 1 WHEREAS, on May 22, 2023, Deputy Caleb Conley lost his life in the line of duty; 2 and 3 WHEREAS, the Commonwealth joins the Conley family and Scott County Sheriff's 4 Office in mourning the loss of a beloved father, husband, and peace officer; 5 NOW, THEREFORE, 6 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 7 Kentucky: 8 Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 9 sympathy upon the passing of Deputy Sheriff Caleb Conley, and remember him for his 10 dedicated service to his nation and state. 11 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 12 memory of Deputy Sheriff Caleb Conley. 13 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 14 Resolution to Senator Stephen West for delivery to the family. 15
