UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1473 Page 1 of 2 XXXX 1/5/2024 12:24 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Brian 1 Carter House. 2 WHEREAS, Brian Carter House was born on August 19, 1957, in Corbin, 3 Kentucky, as the son of Kenneth T. and Ernestine Porter House; and 4 WHEREAS, Brian House was a 1975 graduate of Laurel County High School. He 5 went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree in 1978 and law degree 6 in 1980 from the University of Kentucky; and 7 WHEREAS, it was at the University of Kentucky where Brian House met his wife, 8 Susan Elliott House, with who he shared 45 years of marriage; 9 WHEREAS, Brian House was an attorney who practiced in the private sector 10 before transitioning in 1992 into a trailblazer in the field of alternative dispute resolution, 11 serving as a neutral arbitrator, and mediator, and more than 14,000 claims; and 12 WHEREAS, Brian House was an ordained minister of the Christian Church 13 (Disciples of Christ). Brian answered the call to ministry, serving as a bi-vocational 14 minister to churches in Pineville, Middlesboro, and London, Kentucky, spreading the 15 gospel of Jesus Christ and the message of unconditional love; and 16 WHEREAS, Brian House impact extended to the written word, sharing messages of 17 encouragement and reflection on topics including cancer, travel, and fiction; and 18 WHEREAS, Brian House died on December 20, 2023, at UK Albert B. Chandler 19 Hospital; and 20 WHEREAS, Brian House was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by 21 his devoted wife, Susan House; his son, Elliot Carter (Sydney) House; his daughter, 22 Sarah Catherine House; his brothers, Ernest Matt (Kim) House and Stuart (Terry) House; 23 and his dedicated assistant of 40 years, Jo Nell (Larry) Hays; 24 NOW, THEREFORE, 25 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 26 Kentucky: 27 UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1473 Page 2 of 2 XXXX 1/5/2024 12:24 PM Jacketed Section 1.
