A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Willie 1
French Sr. 2
WHEREAS, Willie French Sr. was born October 15, 1942, in Lexington, Kentucky; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Willie French Sr. was a graduate of the Kentucky State University, 5
and he played football at KSU from 1960 through 1964, lettering all four years; and 6
WHEREAS, in 2010, Willie French Sr. was inducted into the Kentucky State 7
University Athletic Hall of Fame; and 8
WHEREAS, Willie French Sr. and his wife, Jacqueline, were ardent supporters of 9
Kentucky State University through the KSU K-Club; and 10
WHEREAS, most KSU Alumni remember Willie French Sr. as a fierce competitor 11
on the football field, but also one of the nicest men that they had ever met; and 12
WHEREAS, Willie French Sr. graced this world for 81 years until he passed on 13
December 26, 2023; and 14
WHEREAS, Willie French Sr. was survived by his loving wife of 57 years, 15
Jaqueline Harris French; daughter, Felicia (Charles) Grundy Jr.; and son, Willie 16
(Adrianna) French Jr.; 17
NOW, THEREFORE, 18
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 19
Kentucky: 20
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 21
sympathy upon the passing of Willie French Sr. 22
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 23
memory of Willie French Sr. 24
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 25
Resolution to Senator Reginald Thomas for delivery to the family of Willie French Sr. 26
