UNOFFICIAL COPY 24 RS BR 1449 Page 1 of 1 XXXX 1/10/2024 1:58 PM Jacketed A RESOLUTION honoring the agencies and organizations who combat human 1 trafficking. 2 WHEREAS, combating human trafficking requires a collaborative, comprehensive 3 approach across all levels of government, and requires vigilance from the general public; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, human trafficking has been 6 addressed by many different agencies and organizations, including the Catholic Charities' 7 Bakhita Empowerment Initiative, La Casita Center, the Office for Safe and Healthy 8 Neighborhoods, and Gate of Hope Ministries; and 9 WHEREAS, the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 10 Kentucky greatly appreciates the tireless efforts of these men and women who are 11 working to end human trafficking in the Commonwealth and the nation; and 12 WHEREAS, to this end, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day was 13 designated by the United States Congress in 2007, and has served as a reminder to all 14 citizens that human trafficking remains a vital issue that deserves every available 15 resource to stop; 16 NOW, THEREFORE, 17 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 18 Kentucky: 19 Section 1. The members recognize the importance of assisting the victims of 20 human trafficking, fighting human trafficking across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, 21 and helping recovering victims to be accepted back into their communities. 22 Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 23 Resolution to Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong for delivery. 24
